Cinergy and Days of European Film festival present an exclusive masterclass with Lucy Pardee, the BAFTA-winning British casting director renowned for her innovative approach to casting and talent discovery. Since starting her career in 2004, Pardee has been drawn to film projects featuring characters and individuals seldom seen in mainstream stories. During the casting process, she immerses herself in authentic communities, blending traditional methods with a fresh approach to discover new talent for film.

Additionally, Lucy Pardee will personally introduce the Czech premiere of Bird by Andrea Arnold on April 4th at 7:30 PM in the Světozor cinema.

 

Film journalist Veronika BednáÅ™ová will moderate the masterclass. It will be held in English with no Czech translation.

Pardee's notable collaborations include working with director Andrea Arnold on films such as Wuthering Heights, American Honey, and the upcoming Bird. Pardee's expertise in street casting has been instrumental in projects like Sarah Gavron's Rocks, for which she won a BAFTA and a BIFA, and Charlotte Wells' Aftersun, which earned her another BAFTA nomination.

In this masterclass, Pardee will share her insights into the casting process, from discovering non-professional performers to collaborating with directors and nurturing new talent. This is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the industry's leading casting directors and gain a deeper understanding of how authentic and compelling casts are assembled.
